Chickapea is seeking a full-time CFO to support the company’s rapid growth while maintaining the principals established by the founder. 

The successful candidate will be accountable for the accounting, reporting, treasury, and finance operations of the company. The role will require the candidate to continuously monitor and ensure the accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiencies of existing information systems, driving automation, optimization and integration where required. Amongst other things, the CFO will be accountable for the company’s annual budget process, cash management and risk management, standard operating procedures and be accountable to the company’s CEO and Board of Directors (BOD). 


In addition to the above, the successful candidate will play a key role in helping management and the Board make decisions based on financial and operational analysis. 


Principal Accountabilities:


  1. Oversee and be accountable for the full cycle accounting team and their functions (i.e. A/P, A/R, cash management, payroll).

  2. Prepare timely and accurate month-end reporting and variance analysis for the BOD, investors and internal departments

  3. Review monthly budget and OKR/KPI reports with department heads

  4. Design formal staff job descriptions, develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), accounting policies (ASPE) and internal controls.

  5. Design and implement SOPs to control and account for inventory across the company’s network of suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and retail locations.

  6. Analyze financial information and work with other managers to provide support and recommendations leading to increased profitability and efficiency.

  7. Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal government reporting and regulations.

  8. Lead and assist with timely annual Review and/or Audit engagements and income tax filings.

  9. Manage the capital structure to accommodate growth including working with the company’s banking partners and shareholders.

  10. Work with management and the Board of Directors on the development of a rolling 3-year strategic and financial plan.

  11. Provide leadership to staff together with CEO

  12. Oversee the management of certain outsourced functions.

  13. Such other roles and duties as may be assigned from time-to-time.


Desired Qualifications:

The CFO candidate must have an accounting designation and 10+ years of relevant business experience. 

Working Conditions: 

This is currently a work from home position, but the candidate will be required to travel to Collingwood, ON periodically once safe to do so. Periodic weekend or evening work is expected.
